Exploring potential collaboration with IMPSA

A discussion with the management of IMPSA (M) Bhd., an Argentinean company based in Kuala Lumpur was held in early November 2016. At present, IMPSA has indicate their interest to work together with UTM researchers in the field of Smart Grid area. For this, two COE have been identified as UTM’s experts team namely PROSPECT (FKT) and CEES (FKE). The meeting was attended by myself and Dr. Shukor (Deputy Director RMC, UTM) and Mr Mario and Mr. Anas (IMPSA, KL)

Skype meeting with RMIT Melbourne

img_6750Initial discussion on potential collaboration with School of Chemical Engineering and School of Civil Engineering, RMIT Melbourne was recently held through Skype meeting at the Bilik Mesyuarat Berlian, TNCPI office. Targeted area of collaborations include R&D (membrane, water, wastewater, sludge management, agriculture) and Student/ Staff mobility (postgraduate & postdoctoral). UTM was represented by myself, Dr. Mukhlis & Dr Juhana (AMTEC), Dr. Aidee (IBD) and Dr. Hamdan (ISC)

IBD-MPOB Collaboration on Biomass

Happy to share on our on-going collaboration with MPOB’s Biomass Technology Unit which was started in 2014. Focus of study on pyrolysis (slow & microwave) of oil palm biomass notably PKS and Palm Fibre where the collected pyroligneous acid was evaluated on its effectiveness both in health and agricultural applications. To date, 2 Ph.D  (Khoirun Nisa & Fatimatul Zaharah), 2 M.Phil students (Suzami Junaidah & Seri Elyanie) and 1 RO (Maizatulakmal) are directly involved in this work.

Congratulations IBD for the national HiCOE status!

15578521_10154008007681927_7985934535082124886_nHighest congratulations for IBD for the conferment of the national HiCOE status by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia!.. IBD is the 4th HiCOE in UTM as well as being the 2nd COE recognized under the Service-oriented status.

Public Lecture by Prof Jackie Ying, IBN, Singapore

Heartiest congratulations to Department of Bioprocess Engineering & Polymer (FKT) and IBD for the organization of a Public Lecture series by Prof. Jackie Ying from IBN, A*STAR, Singapore, on 22Dec16 at UTM Kuala Lumpur campus. The session was attended by approximately 43 participants from various institutions including UM, UKM, UniKL, local industry, MOSTI as well as UTM itself. ICCB’16 Vellore & ICSEPM’16 New Delhi

Successfully presented two papers from the outcomes of research carried out by Dr. Then Kek Hoe and Suzami Junaidah in India. Thank you very much to Prof. Ashok Pandey, Prof. I.S Thakur and Dr. S.
